Seminar Announcement: Ludivine Bantigny (Rouen/Sciences Po): ‘Political History and the History of Emotions’ Thursday 3rd March, 2016, Creative Edge 204, 2pm-4pm

Ludivine Bantigny is Senior Lecturer in Contemporary History at the Université de Rouen, a Research Associate of the Centre d’Histoire de Sciences Po, Paris, and a graduate of the Ecole Normale Supérieure (Ulm). She is the author or editor of 9 books, most recently La Société française de 1945 à nos jours (with Jenny Raflik & Jean Vigreux, 2015), La fabuleuse histoire des journaux lycéens (2014) and La France à l’heure du monde, de 1981 à nos jours  (2013), as part of Seuil’s Histoire de la France contemporaine. She is also a regular contributor to French public debates on matters relating to history and to current affairs in media such as France Culture, France 3, Mediapart, Libérationand Le Monde, and is also a member of the editorial boards of Vingtième SiècleHistoire@Politique and Dissidences. Her research interests include political engagement in France from the 1950s to the present; the philosophy of history; gender history; and the comparative history of youth and generations in Europe.This seminar is taking place as part of Dr Bantigny’s Erasmus staff mobility at Edge Hill, during which time she will also undertake undergraduate teaching in History and in Film Studies.
